Why Buying a Complete, Customized Pond Kit is Best

Ever Done Any Plumbing?

This was pond #2 that we built in our backyard.
(Before we had a retail store.) We bought a kit that wasn't
customized so the liner was too short.
We fought leakage for the 6 years it was in.

DISCLAIMER: After writing this article, I re-read it and thought,  "Wow, that really sounds like a sales pitch!" Please know that is absolutely not my intention! Yes, my company sells pond kits, but our goal as a company is to provide you service and knowledge. Our products are merely tools to provide that service. We beat our heads against the wall every day because we see so much money wasted on poor products, poor decisions, and poor advice. Please read the following knowing that we want to help. We love what we do -- water features done right!

Okay, so read on if you dare!

Steve's dear, late aunt Sharon who was our very first retail employee at Cool Ponds used to always say it takes at least 3 trips to the hardware store for any plumbing job. She spent many years working at hardware stores before working here with us. She was right!

So building a pond could be similar to that if you're not careful. We see it all the time.

People want to build a pond, but pick up a piece here and a piece there only to be frustrated when they all don't fit together and can't find the pieces that will work. This is why we advise getting the whole kit at once. Plus it will save you not only time and energy, but money too!

I have two anecdotes that perfectly illustrate what I mean.

The first case is a gentleman who purchased a pond kit from us. As he was installing his pump into his skimmer, there was a detail about a certain fitting he was unsure of. He called the shop and in under two minutes, we put him on the right track. We knew exactly what parts he had. He knew exactly what we were talking about. Easy!

The second case is a lady came in with a pump and a filter she'd bought online. They were different brands, and there was no easy way to connect the two. A critical fitting on the filter had already broken, and we had nothing that could replace it. We couldn't even size tubing for her because the online listing for her pump didn't list any of the fitting sizes! Regrettably, she left with her broken filter, mystery pump, and no tubing. We were just as frustrated as she was.

At Cool Ponds, we've got building custom kits down to a science. You tell us what you would like (we help you come up with the design if you want) and we build a kit for you that has ALL the pieces and is fully functional and if installed properly, low maintenance! Need more pipe for your overflow...nope, that's included. How about treatments so you can put in fish that day? Yep that's there too. What about that fitting that connects the pump? Will it fit? Yes it will -- guaranteed! What if the liner is too short? It won't be because it was custom cut just for you. Then after all of that, we take 10% off the price.

Of course we have several ponds here for you to look at as well. You can say "I want that one" and we'll load up the components for you or come to your home and install it. Your time is valuable. We're all about fun and relaxation here and we want that for you too!!!

We've seen TOO MANY water features that have been installed with the wrong products. They're undersized, poor quality or outdated. Often times in an effort to get the best price, quite frankly "junk" gets purchased. The best "price" isn't always the best VALUE.

So why again should you buy a complete, customized kit?
  1. All the pieces are there.
  2. Everything fits and works together.
  3. It's customized to fit your area and situation -- not dictated to you by "kit size."
  4. Saves you money.
  5. The most valuable asset of the kit: Cool Ponds' complete support. If your kit is pieced together from all over, we can't advise you.
I hope this gives you some things to "ponder" if you're looking to install a new pond or upgrading your pond this year. We are sincerely here to help!
